The «Chercheurs Etrangers à Nantes » association is a non-profit association and was created in 2001 after a call for its creation by the Urban Community and the University of Nantes, who expressed the need for a single centralised body to welcome overseas researchers arriving in Nantes.
The objectives of the association are various:
to organise activities at the “Maison des Chercheurs Etrangers” itself
to organise communication activities (debates, conferences, meetings etc) with an aim to attracting overseas researchers to Nantes, and
to create links with the local population of Nantes, as well as between the overseas researchers themselves
to reflect the current research projects underway in the surrounding area.
«Chercheurs Etrangers à Nantes » is the Welcoming Bureau of Nantes for the "EURAXESS" Mobility Centre in the Loire Valley region, as labelled by the European Union as part of the 6th Framework programme for research and technical development.
Since 2007, our association can be found on the ground floor of the “Maison des Chercheurs Etrangers”. It welcomes overseas researchers every day. It makes sure the new residents arriving in the city of Nantes are setting in well and organises social events to facilitate exchanges between them.
It brings together the main establishments of the Nantes area, who act as welcoming bodies for overseas researchers.
