You have a long stay (D) "Scientist" visa: for the 1st application to "Scientist" residence permit, please come to our Association’s office with the following documents (ORIGINALS AND 2 COPIES) :
- The “Convention d’Accueil”, completely filled in by the lab and signed on the back by the researcher
- the work contract, signed or not already signed, or a recent letter from the lab specifying the dates of the working period
- the valid passport: first page with identity and validity dates, visa and entry stamp in France
- the birth certificate and French or English oficial translation of it
- the wedding certificate and French or English oficial translation of it
- a proof of residence dated less than 3 months (no rent receipt):
- rental agreement dated less than 3 months or
- electricity or gas bill dated less than 3 months or
- renting contract + last bank account statement or
- electricity or gas instalments+ last bank account statement
If you are being provided accommodation at a third party, you have to provide
- a written certification of accommodation dated and signed by the person
- his/her valid national identity card or residence permit
- his/her proof of address (see above)
- three similar identity photos with clear background, complying with official standards (ISO/IEC 19794-s : 2005)
It's the same procedure for scientist' spouse.
Cost: 340€ in OMI stamps + 19€ in fiscal stamps. Those stamps can be found at the Préfecture de Nantes n°6 quai Ceineray, or at the Trésorerie Générale just opposite the Préfecture, or at the Tabac Brazza, rue Paul Bellamy. You will have to bring the stamps with you when you come and get your residence permit from our offices.
Once you have done your obligatory health exam at OFII, you have to give/send us the medical certificate that you will be given (the one for the Prefecture).
You have a "Scientist" residence permit, or a"Student" one, or any other status, and you wish to renew as "Scientist", please come to our Association’s office with the following documents (ORIGINALS AND 2 COPIES) at least 2 months before your residence permit expires:
- The “Convention d’Accueil”, completely filled in by the lab and signed on the back by the researcher
- the work contract dated less than 3 months, or the draft contract, or a recent letter (less than 3 months) from the lab specifying the dates of the working period
- the residence permit, and “récépissé” if you have it
- the valid passport: first page with identity and validity dates Make sure it is still valid!
- a proof of address dated less than 3 months (no rent receipt):
- rental agreement dated less than 3 months or
- electricity or gas bill dated less than 3 months or
- renting contract + last bank account statement or
- electricity or gas instalments + last bank account statement
If you are being provided accommodation at a third party, you have to provide
- a written certification of accommodation dated and signed by the person
- his/her valid national identity card or residence permit
- his/her proof of address (see above)
- For PhD students or ATER (Temporary Teaching and Research Fellow) with "Student" residence permit, the last diploma or statement of viva or marks spreadsheet
- three similar identity photos with clear background, complying with official standards (ISO/IEC 19794-s : 2005)
