As Welcoming Bureau of Nantes for the "EURAXESS" Mobility Centre of the Loire Valley region, the «Chercheurs Etrangers à Nantes» association is the only centre which informs and welcomes overseas researchers in Nantes.

- help with administrative formalities during residency in Nantes : filling in and depositing the necessary forms for a residency card, useful information (taxes, salaries, insurance, medical visits, etc).
- help throughout residency in Nantes : personalised guidance given to the researcher and continuous contact exchanges with the welcoming research laboratory if necessary.
- the intercultural agenda puts on meetings and social gatherings; as well as cultural and leisure activities, so that overseas researchers can learn more about the local region, at a reduced cost (in association with the Autour du Monde /Around the World international students society).
- French language lessons for overseas researchers and their partners are organised by the «Chercheurs Etrangers à Nantes» association. These are held at the “Maison des Echanges Internationaux et de la Francophonie” (in association with the Institute for Research and Training in French as a foreign language, Nantes University ).

The «Chercheurs Etrangers à Nantes» association is an important mediator and facilitator for many institutions and organisations. It embraces the role of mediator and spokes body for research laboratories, overseas researchers, and the many related bodies who take part in the welcoming, settling in and integration of overseas research students in Nantes. It also gives on hand help and offers a variety of services to Higher Education Establishments, as well as to research laboratories in Nantes so that they can welcome overseas researchers and help them to solve any problem which may arise during their residency :
- information and strategy surveillance concerning the evolution of legal texts and formalities.
- a network of correspondents working within the establishments ; organising meetings for the exchange of information as well as giving out instructions about good conduct.
- partnerships with research organisations, local government bodies, as well as with university, economic and cultural development teams.
